E-waste Roundup Residential e-waste recycling program that is free for the public to drop-off at any of the 30 depots in Manitoba, with 6 depots in Winnipeg. The summer/fall campaign runs from May 1 – October 30, 2010 and 11 depots will stay open year-round. The 2010 E-waste Roundup is projected to collect over 1.7 million kilograms. Between 2007 – 2009, over 2.6 million kilograms were sent for proper end-of-life management at Sims Recycling Solutions (Brampton, ON) and GEEP Alberta (Edmonton, AB). Green Manitoba
Grade 7 Polar Bear Conservation Project The aim of this project is to sensitize grade 7 students to the natural world; specifically, Arctic ecosystems and to learn about polar bears. Students will learn about polar bear habitat; human and animal interactions and solutions to help minimize the effects on polar bears and Arctic ecosystems. Considering, Manitoba is the polar bear capital of the world; it is vital for our students to be environmental stewards, here in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Independent School Environmental Funding Program (ISEFP) A program to address the gap around schools that are Band-operated and Independent Non-funded to fund school sustainability projects andp promote awareness of the issues around waste minimization, water conservation, and energy efficiency in Manitoba schools.
